For \u00abAu Contraire\u00bb, Foofwa d\u201c\u0080\u0099Imobilit\u00e9 developed his piece, inspired by Jean-Luc Godard, in the style of a film production. The subject of this \u201c\u0080\u009con-set choreography\u201c\u0080\u009d is the encounter: possible and impossible meetings of people and states, planned and accidental, contradictory and behavioural. The Genevan Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Gafner, also known as Foofwa d\u201c\u0080\u0099Imobilit\u00e9, distinguishes himself once again by tackling new, rarely explored themes and questioning codes of representation.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u0080\u009cAu Contraire\u201c\u0080\u009d was created for the Festival d\u201c\u0080\u0099Avignon in 2010.<\/p>\n

“In Au contraire (after Jean-Luc Godard), intelligence is a movement, movement is a savoir-faire and an elegance of spirit. Body itself is loving. And sex is a distinguished salutation. Looking deeper, Godard is a perfume.” (Le Temps, 17.2.2011)<\/p>\n

Born Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Gafner in Geneva in 1969, Foofwa d\u201c\u0080\u0099Imobilit\u00e9 studied at the Ecole de Danse de Gen\u00c3\u00a8ve and was a member of the Geneva-based Ballet Junior. He was a dancer in Stuttgart Ballet and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York. He founded Cie neopost foofwa in 2000. From this point on, he launched numerous productions and collaborations and toured throughout Europe with them. He is the winner of many awards and grants.<\/p>\n
